COLORS AND MARKINGS

Select a breed below to get the complete list of Standard (S) and Alternate (A) color and marking codes for all AKC recognized, Foundation Stock Service (FSS®) and Miscellaneous Class (Misc) breeds.

• Color Description: This is the prominent color of the dog.
• Marking Description: This is the secondary color or pattern of the dog.
• Type: The Standard and Alternate colors are classified for show purposes. Please refer to the breed standard for additional details.
• Code: Enter the 3-digit color and/or marking code for your dog on your Registration form.

NOTE: If you are having difficulty determining your dog's color and marking, or you do not see the color listed that best represents your dog, please e-mail in photos of the COMPLETED & SIGNED AKC registration application (front and back) with (two) color photographs of your dog in PDF (or) JPEG format to registrationdept@akc.org for processing.
